Abstract: This work reports the synthesis method of magnetic cobalt ferrite/silica microparticles using an external magnetic field. This resulted in silica microellipsoids containing magnetic nanoparticles aggregated in rows. At a larger scale, this resulted in strong magnetic dipolar interactions so that when they are dispersed in water, the microellipsoids self-assemble into large and irregular chains.
